In the first two installments of our deep dive into Kansas’ Wide Zone offense, we explored their foundation, and how they use the scheme to attack out of Pistol and Spread formations.

Wide Zone Triple with Passes

Kansas builds off its traditional triple option by incorporating a pass option into the mix. In this variation, the quarterback still begins by reading the defensive end, just as in the wide zone triple option. However, instead of pitching the ball to a trailing back, the quarterback has the option to throw a screen or quick game to a receiver.
