The 49ers finished the NFC Championship game with a historic 17-point 2nd half comeback. This was the largest halftime deficit comeback in conference championship history.

Within the comeback, the 49ers stayed true to themselves. They used a balanced attack with concepts we have witnessed them execute all season. Let’s look deeper at the big plays that propelled the offense.

Wide Zone - 18/19 Zorro

A Shanahan game plan is not complete without some explosive Wide Zone plays. The variation that brought them the most success in this game was the strong toss. The tag for this variation is called Zorro. Zorro is run to a 2 tight end, or a tight end and fullback surface. It tells the two extra blockers they are double-teaming the end man on the line of scrimmage to the support defender.
