We’ve set the trap.

Now it’s time to take the shot.

Today, we’re diving into how we take a safe, high-percentage screen and transform it into one of our most explosive plays.

Key Screen Review: Setting the Trap

Here’s a quick reminder of how our Key screen works and what the quarterback is looking for.

Our Goal: Create a 2-for-1 advantage on the perimeter.
If the apex defender cheats into the box and we still have numbers (2-on-1), we throw the screen.

But what happens when the defense over-adjusts?

  • The apex cheats in

  • The corner starts triggering downhill

  • And the safety rolls down hard

That’s our cue:
Go vertical.
