The Hidden Gap in Offensive Coaching
What will separate great offenses from everyone else.
I’ve been quieter than normal the last few weeks.
Some of that was life.
Most of it was reflection.
I’ve been spending time thinking about where Coaching Football Insights started… and where it needs to go next.
When I launched this thing a couple of years ago, my goal was simple: help coaches.
I wanted to create something I wish I had when I was young and overwhelmed and trying to figure this whole thing out.
I didn’t have a master plan. I just started sharing my story, what I’d learned the hard way, and the schemes and trends I was seeing at the higher levels.
And over time, something became hard to ignore.
The Gap No One’s Talking About
The more time I’ve spent on social media and talking with coaches, the more obvious this has become:
Coaching content today is almost all plays and specific copy & paste systems.
Scroll long enough and it’s:
“Here’s a cool play.”
“Here’s another cool play.”
“Here’s the exact system you should run.”
There’s nothing wrong with that. Studying the Air Raid, the Wing-T, wide zone, whatever, there’s value in all of it.
But something important is missing.
What Coaches Actually Need
When everything online is built around plays or copying full systems, it leaves a huge hole:
Nobody is teaching how to build your own offense.
Not how to steal plays or recreate someone else’s identity. But how to design a system that actually fits your kids, your staff, and your reality.
I’ve watched coaches try to stitch together an offense from whatever they see on Twitter and YouTube.
And I know what that feels like… because that was me.
I was the coach chasing the perfect play. The coach trying to be someone else. The coach with a binder full of ideas and no actual system.
And I failed miserably doing it that way.
We don’t lack plays.
We lack the framework that makes plays matter.
Where I’m Going From Here
So starting now, I’m shifting the focus.
I’m going to help coaches build systems, not copies.
Not my system.
Not anyone else’s.
Your system.
A system built around:
what you know
what you can teach
what your kids can execute
and how you want to attack people
That’s the work I’m committing to.
That’s where my heart is right now.
And because of that, I’ve been building something new behind the scenes.
It’s almost ready, and I’ll share more soon.
For Coaches Who Want To Build Something Real
For now, I’m keeping it simple.
If you’re the kind of coach who wants an offense that makes sense, one that fits your kids instead of pretending you have someone else’s roster, I’m putting together a waitlist.
Just a way to raise your hand so I know who wants to be part of this when it opens.
Here’s the link if you want in:
If not, no worries at all.
I’ll keep writing, breaking things down, and helping however I can.
