So I’m a middle school coach and really interested in this concept. Because I’m concerned about pass protection, would you recommend changing the deep choice to a hitch based choice? Maybe hitch, slant, out from the slot position?

You could for sure do that. The short choice is very common. It’s a tougher technique in my opinion because the out adds another decision layer.
But if you rep it enough and teach them clear rules there’s no reason it can’t work.
